Service Pack 4 for NeuroCheck 5.1

The fourth service pack for NeuroCheck 5.1 contains a number of new features, mainly related to hardware support in NeuroCheck. As usual, all enhancements and bug-fixes are listed in detail in file History.txt whereas on this page we only present the major improvements:

Service Pack 4 for NeuroCheck 5.1 NeuroCheck now also supports the new color IEEE 1394 (FireWire) cameras of the NeuroCheck Edition series.

With the "FWX14c NC Edition" and the "FWX08c NC Edition", two high-quality color cameras are available. The automatic adjustment of the white balance for the color cameras in combination with the preview in the properties dialog allows a convenient configuration of the camera settings.

However, the new NeuroCheck driver not only brings color support, but also has been exclusively adapted for the improved NeuroCheck Edition.

In close collaboration with the camera manufacturer, the hardware and the driver have been improved to provide the maximum speed for the (color) image transfer. The list of camera parameters has been extended to meet the requirements of our customers. In addition, an intelligent camera configuration has been introduced which allows easier integration of future camera types.

Service Pack 4 introduces so-called virtual I/O devices which allow to simulate the functionality of a digital I/O or field bus device for process communication in NeuroCheck.

Like a hardware I/O device present in the system, the virtual devices can be registered and configured in NeuroCheck's Device Manager. A dialog opens to display and simulate the signals to and from the virtual device. Apart from this, there is no difference in NeuroCheck between the virtual and a real I/O device.

Service Pack 4 for NeuroCheck 5.1 The virtual I/O device can be used to simulate the communication signal for a planned application. It also allows convenient configuration of NeuroCheck check routines on a system where no hardware component is present, e.g. on a note book. This feature thus is not only suitable for training purposes, but also represents a useful tool for the application engineer.

Important Notes

The software updates contain new features, enhancements and bug-fixes. For details please refer to the list of new features in SP4.

The file format for check routines remains unchanged since SP1.

Due to the new features, the CHR file format changes in comparison to previous releases. Old check routine files can be loaded as usual, but check routines created with SP1 or higher cannot be read by previous NeuroCheck version or older.

Installation of service pack
  • Copy the file into an arbitrary directory on your NeuroCheck system.
  • Double-click the service pack (self-extracting zip archive packed with WinZip Self-Extractor).
  • In the appearing dialog, configure the installation directory of the corresponding language version of NeuroCheck 5.1.
  • Click "Unzip" to overwrite the existing files of your NeuroCheck installation with newer versions.
  • At the end of the installation file History.txt will be opened to inform you in detail about the changes in this service pack.

Please note that a subsequent repair run of the original setup for NeuroCheck 5.1 will replace most of the updated files with their original versions, requiring a re-run of the service pack.
