FSI a sponsor & technology supplier to
Autonomous Ground Vehicle Competition
The University of Texas is
designing and building an Intelligent Autonomous Ground Vehicle for
entry into the upcoming national Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition.
FSI Technologies Inc. is one of their sponsors and technology suppliers.
The process began with a FSI working with the University of Texas team
to determine the optimal design for the encoders for the vehicle, with
consideration for the required functionality and environment. The
encoders that we selected and manufactured included bi-directional non-quadrature
output circuitry to facilitate interfacing with computer circuitry, and
to allow that computer circuitry to directly and reliably derive motion
information (including direction) without the need for hardware decoding
of a quadrature signal. While many consider this output circuitry design
to be exotic or unavailable, FSI readily produced it in its Chicago area
factory. FSI has been a technology leader in its numerous automation
fields since 1959.
